Bomet County; Son Brutally Slaughters Father Over Inua Jamii Funds

In a chilling incident that has cast a somber shadow over the Kelengei area of Bomet County, a 37-year-old son stands accused of ruthlessly hacking his own father to death.
The gruesome act allegedly took place amidst a heated dispute over the remaining balance of money the son had received from the recent disbursement of Inua Jamii cash transfers.
The accused, Leonard Kipngetich, reportedly engaged in a quarrel with his 74-year-old father, Joseph arap Oricho, before imprisoning him within their house and resorting to a horrifying act of violence, employing a sharp-edged weapon known as a Panga to end his father’s life.
Tragically, the elderly man suffered deep wounds on his neck, head, and legs, leading to profuse bleeding and his subsequent demise.
The heart-wrenching ordeal was witnessed by members of the public who were drawn to the scene by the victim’s desperate cries for help, pleading with his own son to spare his life.
Senior Assistant Chief Paul Bett of the Makimeny location revealed that concerned individuals who rushed to the scene promptly apprehended the suspect.
Disturbingly, Kipngetich’s attire and gumboots were tainted with traces of blood, while the murder weapon itself remains undiscovered.
Chepalungu Sub-county police commander, Phanton Analo, confirmed the horrific incident stated that the suspect has been taken into custody, currently held at the Bomet police station.
Meanwhile, the lifeless body of the deceased has been transferred to the mortuary at Longisa County Referral Hospital, leaving the community shaken by the senseless act of violence.
