CEO Dr. Martin Wafula Leads Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital to Top Awards

Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital was named the Best Hospital in Nairobi County for 2024, and its CEO, Dr. Martin Wafula, was recognized as the Best CEO of Public Hospitals in Nairobi County during a Gala Night organized by the Nairobi County Government.
The event, held yesterday, celebrated healthcare achievements across the county. Dr. Wafula, who has led the hospital to great success, said the awards were the result of teamwork and dedication from everyone at the hospital.
“These awards belong to the entire Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital team. From Ndengelwa to the world, we are proud to set a high standard for public healthcare,” said Dr. Wafula, who is originally from Ndengelwa in Bungoma County.
The Gala Night was attended by senior officials, including the Nairobi County Executive for Health and other leaders from the Ministry of Health. Several employees from Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital were also recognized for their hard work in different categories.
Speaking at the event, the County Executive praised Dr. Wafula’s leadership, saying, “Under Dr. Wafula, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital has become an example of what public hospitals can achieve. The entire team deserves this recognition.”
Since becoming CEO, Dr. Wafula has introduced many changes to improve the hospital. These include better medical equipment, more services for patients, and programs to help the community. His goal has always been to provide quality healthcare for all.
Dr. Wafula said the hospital plans to continue improving its services. He mentioned future projects, including expanding the hospital and using modern technology to serve patients better.
