In a recent interview with Radio Vuna 1020 FM, Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity criticized President William Ruto’s recent cabinet reshuffle, arguing it was not in the interest of Kenyans but rather an attempt to calm ongoing Generation Z protests.

Dr. Kinity accused President Ruto of using the reshuffle as an opportunity to reintroduce his former allies, allegedly involved in corrupt practices, under the guise of restructuring the government.

President Ruto’s cabinet reshuffle, which was described as broad-based on the official State House website, has been met with skepticism and criticism from various quarters.

Dr. Kinity’s remarks suggest that the reshuffle was a strategic move to address the growing unrest among young Kenyans, particularly Generation Z, who have been vocal in their opposition to the current administration’s policies.

The protests, which reflect a changing political landscape in Kenya, signify the frustrations of a generation that feels neglected and unheard by the ruling elite.

Dr. Kinity further drew parallels between the recent protests and past incidents of political violence in Kenya, highlighting a disturbing trend where witnesses to significant events are silenced.

He pointed out the fate of International Criminal Court (ICC) witnesses who were mysteriously killed after the 2007-2008 post-election violence, suggesting a similar pattern could emerge for police officers caught on camera during the brutal suppression of Generation Z protests.

“There is a high probability that those officers could be murdered to hide evidence,” Dr. Kinity warned, hinting at a possible cover-up to protect those in power from facing charges at the ICC.

Despite the political turbulence, Dr. Kinity expressed support for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union chairmanship.

He acknowledged Raila’s decades-long fight for the welfare of Kenyans, stating that his candidature could benefit Kenya by extending his legacy to the rest of Africa.

Dr. Kinity also raised concerns over the country’s deteriorating health situation, noting the emergence of monkeypox in Kenya.

He emphasized that the government has failed to protect citizens, accusing it of looting public funds through loans, grants, and misuse of national revenue.

In addition, Dr. Kinity alleged that the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has been compromised by President Ruto to undermine its counterpart, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), particularly over the ongoing teachers’ strike notice.

Finally, he criticized President Ruto’s approach to economic management, accusing him of reopening old projects initiated by the previous administration to attract foreign loans and grants, while the country remains in a state of political instability.
