Drunk Nakuru Police Officer Shoots, Kills Bar Attendant Over 13K Bill

Police in Nakuru are detaining their colleague accused of shooting and killing a bar attendant in Nakuru West Sub-County on the night of Wednesday, December 12, 2023.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, also left three other people injured.
The incident took place at the Naksvegas entertainment area, and reports suggest it was triggered by a dispute over a liquor bill. The suspect and the victims had gathered for the Republic Day celebrations in 2023.
According to Nakuru County Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi, the deceased was a woman, and the injured include two men and a woman.
They sustained serious gunshot wounds and were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital for treatment.
One of them is in critical condition. “One of our officers went to a club in town, and after consuming alcohol, he got into an argument with the bar attendant over the bill.
He began shooting at people. Unfortunately, we lost one woman, with three people injured in the incident,” stated Mr. Ndanyi.
The police officer had his firearm confiscated and was arrested. He has been taken to Kaptembwa Police Station, and investigations are underway.
