Governor Susan Kihika has congratulated her predecessor, Lee Kinyanjui, on his nomination as the Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry. This position was previously held by Salim Mvurya, who has been reassigned to the Sports Ministry following the appointment of Kipchumba Murkomen as Interior Cabinet Secretary.

The announcement was detailed in a circular signed by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei. The President recently appealed leaders from various political affiliations to support ongoing efforts to unite Kenyans for the sake of the unity and transformation

Governor Kihika conveyed her strong belief in Kinyanjui’s ability to harness his extensive networks, leadership, strategic insights and vast expertise to spearhead economic growth and foster significant investments in Kenya.

“Wishing you every success as you take on this transformative role in service to our great country,” she stated in a post on her official Facebook page.

In her message, Governor Kihika also thanked President William Ruto for the appointment, describing it as a proud moment for Nakuru County.

President Ruto’s cabinet appointments have included several individuals from Nakuru County. Initially, former Nakuru councilor Zachary Njeru was named Cabinet Secretary for Lands. However, he was later reassigned to the Ministry of Water before being relieved of his duties earlier this year.

Subsequently, Ruto appointed Nakuru-born Information Scientist Dr. Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u to head the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy. Dr. Nyambura has since been posted to Ghana as Kenya’s High Commissioner, with her portfolio now taken over by former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.

Before the two, the first and only minister from Nakuru County was Achieng Oneko, who served as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the first post-independence cabinet under the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

“On behalf of the people of Nakuru, I thank H.E. President William Ruto for this appointment, which is a testament to his vision for a united and inclusive government,” Governor Kihika remarked.

Meanwhile, Mutahi Kagwe, who previously served as Health Cabinet Secretary under former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture. Kagwe will take over the Agriculture portfolio from Dr. Andrew Karanja, who has been nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil.

The circular emphasized the President’s commitment to optimizing government performance and service delivery as part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). It outlined the realignment of ministries, state departments, and the foreign service to address emerging challenges and advance national development goals.
