Hon. Maina Wakabura Calls Out Bully Investor Behind Irregular Petrol Stations in Nakuru

Read Time:1 Minute, 4 Second

Nakuru East parliamentary aspirant Maina Wakabura has raised concerns over the unchecked mushrooming of petrol stations in Nakuru Town, accusing them of operating without adhering to critical regulatory requirements.

In a recent Facebook post, Wakabura criticized the establishments for allegedly lacking essential licenses, including approvals from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and the county government.

He also questioned their compliance with fire safety standards, business permits, and certification from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

Wakabura lamented that some of the spaces now occupied by these stations were previously home to local businesses, including car wash operators, who were forced out to accommodate the new developments.

He described the trend as a blatant misuse of power by politically connected individuals and called for greater accountability.

“This is beyond selfishness,” Wakabura stated, voicing the frustrations of many residents who feel sidelined by influential players benefiting from what he termed as irregular processes.

The post has drawn widespread support from Nakuru East residents, many of whom are applauding Wakabura for addressing a pressing issue affecting the community.

With his advocacy for transparency and fairness, Wakabura continues to strengthen his position as a candidate dedicated to fighting for the rights of ordinary citizens ahead of the 2027 elections.
