The highly awaited Grand Finale of the Njoro Youth Dialogue Football Tournament, sponsored by parliamentary aspirant Kibet Kirui Pumbit, is set for 14 December 2025 at Teret Imarisha Stadium, marking one of the biggest youth sporting gatherings in the subcounty this year.
The tournament, branded under Pumbit the Lakwét, has grown into a major platform for nurturing young talent, with scouts expected to attend and identify outstanding players for potential regional and international opportunities.
This year’s finale will not only crown the football champions but also feature additional track events including the 4 x 4 relay, 100 metre race, 200 metre race and 800 metre race.
Entertainers 2nd Junior Kotestes and 254 Samkistar, who appear on the official event poster, are also lined up to perform, helping to attract a large youthful audience.
Kibet Kirui’s growing involvement in youth empowerment programmes has increasingly shaped the political conversation in Njoro, where he is positioning himself as the alternative to the current leadership.
His message of accountability and development focused leadership has resonated widely, especially among young people who feel past allocations for roads, water projects, sports facilities and social programmes have not translated into visible progress.
Tension between Kibet and the sitting MP heightened recently when the two shared a public platform. During her remarks, the MP shifted into a personal narrative, telling the audience she has a twenty four year old daughter who needs a husband.
When Kibet rose to speak, he responded firmly, telling her and the crowd that the people of Njoro are seeking development and not marriage stories.
The moment sparked strong reactions, with many residents interpreting it as a clear sign of changing priorities within Njoro Subcounty.
For many youth the event is more than a tournament as it’s an opportunity to be noticed by scouts who can open doors to professional football pathways beyond Kenya.
For others it is another demonstration of Kibet Kirui’s growing influence and his deliberate focus on programmes that speak directly to the aspirations of Njoro’s young population.
