Joseph Irungu, commonly known as Jowie, has been handed a death sentence following his conviction for the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Jowie was found guilty of Monica Kimani’s murder on February 9, 2024.

During the sentencing on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka disclosed that the prosecution advocated for the death penalty for Jowie.

Lady Justice Nzioka emphasized the severity of the crime, citing attempts to conceal evidence and the significant psychological and physical harm inflicted on the victim and her family.
