The investigation was prompted by public outrage and reports, including those from The Standard, which highlighted the rejection of the sports kits due to poor quality.

The Sh27 million procurement has sparked criticism from stakeholders, including local athletes and residents, who have raised concerns about the integrity of the procurement process.

The first group of officials, including Abel Mungai, Newton Karanja, and Catherine Macharia, is set to appear tomorrow, 2nd September 2024, at different times.

The EACC’s probe seeks to uncover potential irregularities or misconduct in the procurement process, which led to the purchase of substandard kits.
