Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has hit back hard at Kimani Ichung’wah and other politicians who turned a solemn funeral into a stage for their baseless attacks.

In a fiery statement, Natembeya did not hold back as he dismantled the insults thrown at him during the burial of Mama Anne Nanyama in Bungoma County.

The funeral, meant to honor the late Mama Anne, turned ugly when some leaders, led by Ichung’wah, used the platform to accuse Natembeya of being an abductor and murderer linked to extrajudicial disappearances during his time as a Regional Commissioner.

These wild claims were nothing short of disgraceful, but Natembeya wasted no time in setting the record straight.

“Let it be known that George Natembeya served the people of Kenya with diligence, honesty, and truth. I earned my position through merit and hard work. I resigned without any stain or scandal,” Natembeya stated firmly, making it clear that such accusations would not tarnish his reputation.

He went further, exposing the real reason behind the insults. “The attacks on me are not about the truth they are about politics. These leaders are upset because I spoke up for the families of young Kenyans abducted and disappeared. I boldly told the President to end these abductions and release the missing children. That’s why they are bitter,” he said.

Natembeya didn’t stop there. He painted a sharp contrast between himself and those attacking him.

While he has been fighting for justice for families living in agony, Ichung’wah and others have been busy dancing and enjoying their power. “These leaders don’t care. They don’t even feel the pain of parents crying for their lost children. Instead, they use funerals to insult and divert attention from important issues,” he said.

In a powerful message to his critics, Natembeya made it clear that condemning extrajudicial abductions is not an attack on the President. “Following the rule of law is a constitutional duty. Politicians like Ichung’wah should stop acting recklessly, spewing insults just to excite the crowd,” he said, calling out their lack of emotional maturity and responsibility.

Natembeya also reminded Kenyans of the bigger picture. “Our people are suffering from poverty, fear, and pain. Leaders should focus on solving these problems, not creating drama for cheap political gains,” he said. He promised to keep fighting for justice and warned that corrupt, selfish politicians would not stop him from speaking the truth.

In a parting shot that was as sharp as it was memorable, Natembeya said, “The truth does not mind being questioned; a lie does not like being challenged.” This was a clear challenge to Ichung’wah and his allies: step up with facts or step aside.

Ichung’wah’s outburst at the funeral has now backfired spectacularly. Natembeya has not only defended his name but also reminded Kenyans what real leadership looks like fighting for justice, truth, and the people’s well-being, not wasting time on petty insults.

If Ichung’wah thought he could scare Natembeya, he was wrong. He picked the wrong fight, and it’s clear who the real leader is.
