A recent statement issued by Nakuru Town West MP aspirant Jimmy Wagakabu has caused confusion after he made serious claims against fellow aspirant Robinas Makana.

In his statement, Wagakabu accused Makana of secretly recording the DCP party leader and using the name of Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to scare the Kikuyu community into supporting him.

After reviewing the claims, there is no evidence to support any of them. In fact, the accusations appear to be part of a political strategy to slow down Makana’s rising popularity in Nakuru Town West.

Those close to local politics know that Makana has not been involved in any form of tribal politics, nor has he ever claimed to have the Deputy President’s personal endorsement.

Makana has been consistent in calling for fairness within the DCP party.

He was among the first to raise the alarm about a small group of individuals trying to take over the party’s Nakuru office and favour certain aspirants.

His warnings were about openness and democracy in the party, not about attacking anyone.

Strangely, Wagakabu is now repeating the same concerns, but instead of building unity, he is turning the issue into a personal attack on Makana.

There is also no proof that Makana recorded any party leader.

None of his speeches or statements suggest such behaviour.

His focus has been on engaging the community and pushing for fair leadership.

His campaign has attracted support from people across different communities, including the Kikuyu, Luo, Kalenjin, Luhya and others living in Nakuru Town West.

Wagakabu’s decision to mention tribal intimidation is not only untrue, but also dangerous.

Such talk can create unnecessary tension in a peaceful constituency. Makana has attended many public events, including church services and youth meetings, where his message has always been about unity, jobs for the youth, and honest leadership. Not once has he used tribe to gain votes.

It is also important to note that Wagakabu has never raised these accusations before.

The timing suggests that he may be feeling politically threatened.

Many aspirants are now aware that Makana is becoming a top contender in the race.

His clean image, accessibility, and focus on real issues have won him support at the grassroots level.

People in Nakuru Town West are now asking questions. Why is Wagakabu turning on Makana just when his message is gaining support? Why is he using false claims instead of building his own campaign?

The truth is that Makana’s rising popularity has made some rivals uncomfortable.

But spreading false information will not stop the people from choosing the leader they trust.

Makana, despite the noise around him, continues to focus on the people. And that, more than anything, is what is making him a strong voice in the 2027 race.
