President William Ruto’s recent visit to former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Gatundu home has stirred significant political discourse.

The meeting, described by both parties as focusing on “matters of national importance,” addressed key issues such as the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), political stability, and economic recovery amidst global challenges.

Ruto praised Uhuru for his statesmanship and peaceful handover of power in 2022, while Uhuru emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and a vibrant opposition to keep the government in check.

Both leaders agreed to maintain dialogue on national and regional matters.

Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity criticized the meeting, calling it a potential attempt by Ruto to implicate Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga in the current administration’s controversies.

Kinity remarked, “In 2022, William Ruto withdrew all corruption cases that were in court. As he seeks help from Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, he should tell Kenyans where all the money left in the treasury by the Uhuru Kenyatta regime is. They said, ‘We found the treasury empty, our coffers are empty.’”

Kinity highlighted contradictions in Ruto’s administration, pointing out that the Central Bank of Kenya refuted claims of empty coffers at the time.

He further questioned the President on the reported Kshs 7.2 trillion borrowed over the past two years, saying, “He should also explain where he took the Kshs 7.2 trillion Ndindi Nyoro said he has borrowed for the last two years.”

Dr. Kinity also expressed concerns over Kenya’s transformation into a center for genetically modified organisms (GMOs), vaccination experiments, and microchip technology.

He urged Uhuru and Raila to be cautious, rhetorically asking if they had been “bewitched” by Ruto’s overtures.
