Sentencing of Ex-Kapkures MCA Paul Kimutai in Sh30M Land Fraud Case Set for February 11

Read Time:43 Second

The sentencing of former Kapkures Member of County Assembly (MCA) Paul Kimutai and his associate Richard Kipngeno, convicted of fraud and forgery in a Sh30 million land scam, has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 11.

Senior Resident Magistrate Priscah Nyotah, who was in court on Tuesday, stated that she needed more time to write the sentencing ruling before delivering the final judgment.

Kimutai and Kipngeno were found guilty last week on four counts, including forging a family agreement in 2010 to fraudulently transfer ownership of a 6.6-hectare plot in Mbarut, Nakuru County, from its rightful owner, Josiah Njoroge.

They also forged a title deed in 2012 and falsified a green card to validate their illegal claim.

In her ruling, Magistrate Nyotah affirmed that the prosecution’s case was “consistent, logical, and believable,” while the defense’s argument was “disjointed, illogical, and inconsistent.”
