The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) has issued an interim order halting the removal of Hon.
Alex Langat from his position as the Majority Leader of the Nakuru County Assembly. The decision came after Langat filed a Notice of Motion under certificate of urgency seeking to challenge his ouster.
The matter, presented before Hon. Desma Nungo, Chairperson of the PPDT, on 12th September 2024, was filed electronically alongside supporting affidavits by Hon. Langat.
The tribunal has certified the application as urgent, with orders to serve the respondents, Hon. Fadhili Msuuri and Hon. Robert K. Langat, among others, with the complaint immediately.
The respondents have been directed to file their responses to the application by the next hearing date set for 24th September 2024 at 2:30 p.m., where compliance will be checked.
The tribunal has stayed the ouster pending the determination of the case.
In her ruling, Chairperson Nungo emphasized that any non-compliance with the tribunal’s orders will result in penal consequences, as stipulated under the Judiciary of Kenya guidelines.
The hearing on 24th September will determine the next steps in the case, which has sparked political tensions within the Nakuru County Assembly.
