Dr. Kinity further alleges that Ruto’s militia includes rebels from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This arrangement is linked to a controversial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2023 between the Kenyan government and the rebels.
The MOU allegedly granted the rebels safe passage into Kenya in exchange for their support against any potential attempt by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to oust Ruto’s government.
In return, Kenya reportedly promised financial and logistical support for the rebels in their fight against the DRC government.
