Residents of Rongai Sub-county, Menengai West Ward, are set to benefit from a medical camp organized by the BAMO Memorial Foundation in collaboration with local authorities at Olerongai on March 17, 2024.
The camp aims to address healthcare challenges faced by the community due to economic constraints.
Dr. David Ondieki, the Resident of Nakuru County Rongai Constituency and a prominent figure in the healthcare sector, initiated the medical camp as part of his commitment to community service.
Dr. Ondieki, who has a rich history of service both locally and internationally, spearheaded the establishment of the BAMO Memorial Foundation in memory of his late mother, known for her philanthropic work.
The foundation, launched in 2023, has since been actively involved in various community initiatives, with a focus on improving healthcare access for vulnerable individuals.
One notable success story is the rehabilitation of an elderly resident, whose dire living conditions were transformed through the foundation’s intervention.
Building on their previous efforts, the foundation identified the need for comprehensive healthcare services in the Rongai area, particularly for those unable to afford medical care.
With support from local volunteers, the foundation is organizing a second medical camp scheduled for the end of March this year.
The upcoming medical camp aims to provide vital healthcare services, including medical check-ups, consultations, and medication, to residents who have long been underserved due to financial constraints.
Dr. Ondieki emphasized the importance of reaching out to the community directly, stating, “Many individuals in our area cannot afford basic healthcare services, and our goal is to bridge this gap by bringing healthcare to their doorstep.”
The collaboration between the BAMO Memorial Foundation, local authorities, and community leaders underscores the collective effort to address healthcare disparities in the region.
Through mobilization efforts led by the area chief and cooperation with the local MCA, the medical camp aims to reach a wide segment of the population in need of healthcare support.
As preparations for the medical camp continue, Dr. Ondieki expressed optimism about the impact it will have on the community, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that every resident has access to quality healthcare, regardless of their financial situation. By working together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
The medical camp represents a proactive approach to addressing healthcare challenges at the grassroots level, highlighting the power of community collaboration and collective action in improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.
