Human rights activist Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has issued what he described as his “second warning” to the international community, claiming that Kenya risks becoming “a hub and a highway of terrorists to the outside world in the name of Kenya citizens.”
In a statement, Kinity alleged that thousands of terrorists have been naturalized and issued with Kenyan IDs and passports after entering the country through Somalia.
“The rate at which terrorists are naturalized, given Kenya IDs and Kenya passports, is alarming. Thousands of terrorists have already been given Kenyan IDs and Kenyan passports,” he claimed.
Kinity said he had raised similar concerns in 2023 following an agreement between President William Ruto and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to reopen the Kenya-Somalia border.
“I wrote and warned the world about the dangers of the influx of terrorists from Somalia into Kenya. I also wrote to individual powerful nations,” he said.
He further alleged that the issuance of identification documents to foreigners had intensified ahead of the 2027 General Election, claiming the exercise was aimed at boosting President Ruto’s support base.
Warning of what he termed a looming global threat, Kinity said those being naturalized in Kenya could easily travel abroad as Kenyan citizens.
“The entire world has a demanding obligation to stop President William Ruto from setting the world in danger. Otherwise, the entire world will live to regret,” he said.
Dr. Kinity is a counselor and human rights activist, Chairman of the Kikimo Foundation for Corruption and Poverty Eradication, and a former Secretary General of the Kenya Civil Servants Union.
His allegations have not been independently verified.
