Human rights activist and 2027 presidential aspirant Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity has called for investigations into claims that money raised for the family of the late Brian Odhiambo during the Linda Mwananchi rally at Mazembe Grounds allegedly disappeared before reaching the intended beneficiaries.

In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Kinity urged the Linda Mwananchi team to establish what happened to the contributions reportedly collected during the event and ensure the funds are handed over to Brian Odhiambo’s widow to support the children left behind.
His remarks followed emotional claims made by Brian Odhiambo’s wife, who reportedly broke her silence and alleged that despite funds being raised on her behalf during the rally, she was only promised Ksh2,000 from the total amount collected.
“It was absolutely wrong for the funds raised by Linda Mwananchi for Brian Odhiambo’s wife to disappear in thin air,” Dr. Kinity said.
He questioned where the rest of the money went, insisting that once the funds were raised in the widow’s name, they rightfully belonged to her and her children.
Dr. Kinity further argued that the money should not have been diverted to cover other expenses such as paying bodyguards, compensating people who counted the money, or fueling vehicles linked to the event.
“These claims that the money was used to pay bodyguards, those who counted the money, and fuel for certain vehicles are all nonsense,” he stated.
The activist said Brian Odhiambo’s widow and her children should have been the direct beneficiaries of the contributions, adding that the matter raises serious concerns about accountability and integrity among those who handled the funds.
He also criticized leaders who condemn alleged looting of public resources while allegedly allowing similar misconduct in charity drives meant to help struggling families.
“There is no need to blame President William Ruto and his administration for looting public funds and then practice the same kind of corruption towards Brian’s widow and her children,” he added.
Dr. Kinity called for all individuals mentioned by Brian Odhiambo’s wife as being involved in the alleged mismanagement of the funds to be reprimanded and taken to court.
He said justice must be served and the missing money recovered and handed to the bereaved family.
