Tears as Slain 12-Year-Old Jasmine Njoki Is Laid To Rest

In a somber ceremony held today, September 27th, family, friends, and community members gathered to bid a final farewell to 12-year-old Jasmine Njoki, whose life was tragically cut short by unknown assailants.

The burial took place in Nakuru amidst heavy hearts, as the mourning residents of Kasambara village in Mbaruk Ward Nakuru County came together to mourn the loss of a young life full of promise.

During the emotional proceedings, leaders and members of the community expressed their grief and called for justice to be served.

MCA of Lake View Ward, Alex Mbugua, emphasized the need for Nakuru to establish a dedicated DCI unit equipped with advanced DNA analysis capabilities, citing ongoing discussions in the County Assembly about this matter.

Karanja Stanley , Wa Mairiamu, wa single mother, delivered a powerful speech that resonated with mourners, saying, “If this child had come from a wealthy family, many suspects would have been apprehended one by one. Let’s ensure those responsible face justice. Chief, don’t rest; apprehend these culprits.”

Michael Gathanwa, the Area MCA of Mbaruk Ward, urged the DCI and all relevant authorities to unite their efforts and resolve the case swiftly. He highlighted the challenges faced by Jasmine, including the lack of public transportation and poor road conditions in the area.

Area MP Martha Wangari voiced the collective anger and frustration, saying, “We are all furious here. Let this anger drive every authority to seek justice for Jasmine.”

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika expressed her disappointment that, despite the passing of a week, no significant progress had been made in apprehending the culprits. She called for the arrestee to be rigorously interrogated to reveal any potential accomplices and questioned the decision to abolish the death penalty for cases like this, suggesting its reinstatement.

The investigation into Jasmine Njoki’s tragic murder remains ongoing, with the community and leaders determined to ensure that justice is served for the young girl whose life was taken far too soon.
