A multiple-vehicle accident near the Simba Cement area in Salgaa along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway has caused a major traffic snarl-up on Saturday afternoon.
The accident, which occurred on August 22, 2026, involved several vehicles, including a long-distance truck. Footage from the scene showed badly damaged vehicles as ambulances and other emergency responders rushed to assist those involved.
Motorists using the busy highway have been advised to exercise caution and approach the affected section carefully as emergency teams continue with rescue operations and efforts to clear the scene.
The Local Drivers and Conductors Association (LODDCA) issued an alert shortly after the crash, warning motorists about the accident.
“Accident alert. Just now! At Salgaa Simba Cement. Approach with caution,” the association said in a post on X.
By the time of publication, the number of people injured or killed in the accident had not been established.
The crash has significantly disrupted traffic along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, with vehicles building up on both sides of the affected section.
Salgaa remains one of Kenya’s most notorious accident black spots, having witnessed numerous serious crashes over the years. The latest incident once again highlights the dangers motorists face along the busy highway.
Motorists are advised to remain patient, follow instructions from traffic and emergency officers, and exercise extra caution while approaching the Salgaa section.
