President William Ruto Faces Calls for Resignation Amid Controversial Legislation
Read Time:1 Minute, 42 Second
Dr. Isaac Newton Kinity, former Secretary General of the Kenya Civil Servants Union and current Member of the Presidential Advisory Board of the Republican National Committee in the USA, has issued a scathing statement calling for the resignation of President William Ruto. Dr. Kinity’s critique, directed towards Generation Z and the wider Kenyan populace, accuses President Ruto of deceiving the nation and pushing through harmful legislation.
In his statement, Dr. Kinity condemned several recent laws, including the Affordable Housing Tax and the 2023 and 2024 finance bills, which he claims were suggested by President Ruto and passed by the Kenyan Parliament despite significant opposition. He highlights the Affordable Housing Tax as particularly contentious, noting that it was passed in defiance of a court ruling that deemed it unconstitutional.
“The affordable housing tax was suggested by William Ruto and was passed by the Kenya Parliament in total disregard of the opposition by the Kenyan workers and despite the court ruling that the affordable housing tax was unconstitutional,” said Dr. Kinity.
Dr. Kinity further criticized the 2023 finance bill, which he claims adversely impacted the salaries of public workers and legislators. He alleged that Kshs. 1 billion was stolen immediately following the bill’s passage. The 2024 finance bill, also suggested by President Ruto, faced similar criticism for being quickly pushed through Parliament.
Addressing recent political maneuvers, Dr. Kinity dismissed President Ruto’s dissolution of the Kenya Cabinet as a distraction from the real issues plaguing the nation. He argued that the core problem lies with President Ruto and the Kenyan Parliament, both of whom he believes should step down to allow for meaningful reforms and positive transformation.
“President William Ruto should not fool the Gen Zs and Kenyans in general with the dissolution of the Kenya Cabinet. The main problems in Kenya are President William Ruto and the Kenya Parliament,” Dr. Kinity asserted. “William Ruto should have dissolved the entire Parliament and resigned from power to pave the way for the positive transformation of Kenya and for positive reforms.”
